Should we Use only One Bible Translation?

    in General Topics (Public)

In my first blog post on this site I used both the New American Standard Bible (NASB) and the New Living Translation (NLT) as sources for various scriptural quotations. I consider the NASB an excellent resource to use when I am in study mode, but for everyday devotions I prefer the far more readable NLT. Overall, I believe it's okay to use a variety of English Bible translations, as many of them are very good. (This is not to say that I recommend or use all of them. For example, I rarely read the King James Version because it is difficult to understand some of its antiquated phrases. And I do not use the New World Translation since it is produced and promoted by the Jehovah's Witnesses, and it does not specify the translation team that is responsible for creating it.)

What thoughts do you have on Bible translations?

Ever since grad school, I have used the NASB on my phone.
