Chapter Summary:
Hannah offers a prayer of thanksgiving to God for her baby Samuel, and gives him to Eli in order for him to serve as his assistant.
Eli becomes aware of his two sons' sinful and abusive behavior. He tells them to stop, but his sons ignore him. Eli does not take any action to correct his sons.
A man of God tells Eli that he and his family will be disciplined for their sins.
Lesson:
How we respond to wrongdoing is an important aspect of how we will be evaluated by God. If we are not aware, don't address, or don't take action to stop impropriety we will experience painful consequences.
Quote:
"If someone sins against another person, God can mediate for the guilty party. But if someone sins against the Lord, who can intercede?” - Eli (1 Samuel 2:25)
Question:
What is a problem you have been ignoring that you need to address? Pray that God will help you respond to this issue in an appropriate manner.
