Matthew 17:1

"Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone."

Jesus models for us the importance of getting away with a group of close friends. And while it is difficult during this pandemic to gather with others, this could be a great time to plan a future trip. Sometime this week, reach out to two or three close friends and start discussing whether the group can set aside some time in summer 2022 to get together at a favorite destination.

Scheduling this far in advance is sometimes a little challenging because it is hard to predict what the next year will bring. However, it also provides everyone time to reserve the dates in their calendar. And if you can purchase travel arrangements now, it will probably be much cheaper than later when the pandemic begins to fade and the whole world is anxious to do some traveling.

As you plan your trip, you may want to consider how you can ensure quality time with your friends. Think about a setting that will reduce distractions and allow each of you to minister to one another. And let your friends know ahead of time that you hope your trip together can include a time of fellowship and prayer. For where two or three gather as Jesus' followers, he has promised to be present with them (Matthew 18:20).
