Matthew 2:11

"They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."

Myrrh, Gold and Frankincense

Frankincense and myrrh had many uses in Jesus' time. To put it simplistically, we could think of frankincense as a perfume and myrrh as a medicine. Notice that the wise men first worshipped the Lord and then gave him gifts.

Today, ask God how you can be a blessing to advance his Kingdom. Go to him with a prayer of praise and then donate to a ministry (gold). Or offer encouraging words to someone who is hurting (myrrh). Or provide a fragrant meal to someone who could benefit from such generosity (frankincense).
