My Father's Memorial

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

My father, Leonard Featherstone, passed away from complications related to COVID-19 earlier this year. We delayed holding his memorial service for several months as a safety precaution for those who might want to attend his celebration of life. Yesterday, June 19, we held his official memorial service in Dallas, Oregon.

Here is a copy of his obituary from the St. George News.

Leonard W. Featherstone, native of Salem, Oregon, passed away Jan. 6, 2021, at the age of 78, in Saint George, Utah.
He was a Navy veteran and he worked as an oncology nurse at the Salem hospital. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and finding a good deal at Walmart. However, his greatest passion was serving God.
He enjoyed leading Bible studies, writing theological papers, and three mission trips to Kenya. He was a man of faith and he looked forward to eternity with his Savior. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his children Phyllis Featherstone, Veronica Sheffield, Paul Featherstone and Richard Featherstone; his brother Patrick Featherstone; and 11 grandchildren.

On this Father's Day, it's difficult to say goodbye to my father, but I will always remember his generous spirit and his love of learning. For those of you who have also lost a father, I share your sorrow on this day. May God help us to see the positive strengths that our dads possessed and to incorporate them more into our own lives.
