"The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined."
On this Christmas Eve, take some time to reflect on the entry of God into our world. This evening, turn out the lights and feel the darkness around you. This is the spiritual state that humankind was in before Jesus came. Then light a candle and contemplate how God's light has illuminated the darkness, allowing us to see the world and ourselves for the first time.
Jesus provides us the light to escape the darkness of our selfishness. Do not extinguish his gift, rather accept it, be transformed, and become a light for others.
