Hannah is not able to have any children and is mocked by her husband's second wife.
Hannah is distraught and prays to God for a baby boy.
The Lord answers Hannah's request and she decides to fulfill her vow and gives up her child.
This chapter suggests that there are at least five common reactions people experience when they go through difficult times. The best thing we can do is to listen and encourage those who are experiencing hardships.
"I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” - Hannah (1 Samuel 1:27-28)
Which of these responses have you experienced in your life? More importantly, which of these responses have you shown to others? Pray that God can help you remember to be attentive to and support those who are going through difficult times.
